Easter Weekend

We had a very enjoyable Easter weekend.  Our boys are both so young so we don't really do big activities with them but it was nice, nonetheless.

Friday night we went to a Good Friday service at our church.  It was a special time of songs and a message to help us remember just how great a sacrifice God made for us in giving us his Son.  It's so humbling and amazing what a gift we were given.  Afterwards we went to Pizza Hut with some friends and both boys were *gasp* really well behaved so we had a great time!

Saturday Peter spent the day checking off projects on his list like changing the oil in the cars, mowing, car maintenance, etc.  I played with the boys, read a little bit and made some food for Easter dinner the next day.  I had worship team practice that evening too.

Sunday morning we enjoyed getting ready while listening to music celebrating Christ's resurrection.  We had a time of breakfast and fellowship at church before the service.  I played piano for the service but didn't get to stay for the message because Jonah was just being a bit too noisy.  Afterwards, our pastor's son was baptized and it was so special to watch that moment.

We came home for a quick lunch and naps, then went to our friends house for Easter dinner.  They were having a bunch of people over and we all brought parts of the meal.  It was great food and wonderful fellowship and a really good time.

Christ's resurrection is so important and significant and it was a wonderful day remembering that!

My boys looked super cute today so I tried to take some pictures, but alas, trying to get pictures of two boys together is near impossible.

 oooohhh, I love them!
 so handsome
at least one was happy in the picture
I think Jonah was over our little photoshoot
he is looking sooo grown up
 sweet brothers
 I sure adore these two
my handsome boys (try to ignore the spit up all over Jonah's shirt...I just can't win, ha!)

Happy Easter 2012!  He is Risen!!

Not an option

Tonight at dinner Peter told Benjamin to take a bite of his rice and chicken.

Benjamin looked at his Daddy and very clearly said, "That's not an option.  That's not an option to eat my chicken."

We couldn't keep a straight face, we were dying laughing.  Apparently, we tell him all too much that his ideas about what should happen are (usually) not an option....so he thought he would do the same.

Where can I get a copy of the strong willed child?

Highs and Lows

Sometimes my days are full of highs and lows

HIGH:   Jonah received a great bill of health at his 2 month appointment today.  He is 11lbs 14 ounces and 23.5 inches long.  He's gained over 5 lbs and 4.5 inches in 2 months.  Go Jonah!!

LOW:  Jonah had to get his shots and made him suuuuper fussy this afternoon.  As in, don't-even-think-about-putting-me-down-or-I'll-scream kind of fussy :-)

HIGH:  Benjamin slept until 7 this morning and was well behaved at the doctors

LOW:  He had to get a booster shot too so he was also a bit fussy this afternoon and only slept for 1 hour at naptime.  Gooood stuff.

HIGH:  Benjamin is getting sooo good at puzzles.  He can do some tougher Melissa&Doug ones completely by himself now.  He's also coloring in the lines really well....I noticed this when we were on the porch playing with sidewalk chalk on Monday.

LOW:  Those puzzles come with lots of pieces and when he gets mad he throws them (and all his other toys) all over my living room.

HIGH:  I got to make dinner for a friend who had a rally bad health scare a couple weeks ago.

LOW:  One of the girls in our EPIC group is dealing with/causing some issues and its sot of maddening and heartbreaking all wrapped into one

HIGH:  I have a great husband who is letting me sit for an hour while he gives the boys a bath

LOW:  Our town has no coffee shop open this late where I could go veg for an hour

HIGH:  We have a couple pieces of cake in the freezer that we can enjoy later!

LOW:  I really need to lose the last of this baby weight.  But unfortunately, I don't have all that much motivation to do so.  Must be something about the lack of sleep and completely full days that drain my energy??

My days are often full of highs and lows but I have two healthy boys, an amazing husband and a God who is my sure and steady foundation.  I am blessed indeed!

Blonde moment

Our library books were due today so I decided we should spend this rainy morning at the library.  Benjamin just loves it so it's fun to make his day.

We had a blast with the puzzles, books, computer, toys, etc.  And then we checked out our books and headed back into the rain to load up into the van.

We parked our stroller outside the van and I got the keys out to open the sliding doors.  I used our keyless remote, but nothing happened.  Um, okay?  I pushed the buttons again.  Still nothing.  I pushed them harder....then I tried putting the actual key in the front door and it wouldn't turn.

Did I mention that we were standing out in the rain?

I started to get a little frustrated.  I was thinking that I must have left a light on inside the car which caused the battery to die and would make the keyless remote not work.  It's happened before to Peter and I so that's what I thought.

I tried a few more times then decided to take the boys back to the library and call Peter for help.  As soon as I turned around to head back to the library I looked to the right and.....4 spots down was another brown Honda van.  OUR brown Honda.

One of the sliding doors was open.  The other one was partially open.

They had probably been opening and shutting over and over as I pushed the keyless remote over and over.

Oops!

I chuckled to myself and realized I had been trying to get into someone else's van.  While standing in the rain.  With two little boys.

Major blonde moment.  Or at least a tired mama moment.

At least Peter had a huge laugh at lunch today :-)

I couldn't think of a clever blog title or think of a clever way to write this post.  So instead, I will just post some pictures of this past week and maybe put in a caption?
