Playland & the Pier

The best part of our trip to San Diego was just spending time with Anita and Nate and the kiddos.  Benjamin had a blast with his cousins and we loved hanging out with their parents.  Sometimes we just had some fun low key moments around the house...

Katie introduced the boys into her crazy world of crafting
Jonah was a rolling machine while we were there
 love my boys
he's a great dad and uncle

.....and other times we had some fun moments outside the house.  One day Anita and I took the kiddos to the mall playland while the boys went golfing.

Unfortunately, Anita's sweet kiddos took turns passing around a virus that gave them a really high fever and lethargic demeanor, though it only lasted 24ish hours.  The kids were such troopers on our outings even though they didn't feel the greatest.

While they rested at home one afternoon, we headed to the beach again for another quick chance to sink our toes in the warm sand.

Nate grilled us another delicious dinner, then we took off to enjoy an evening and sunset at the pier!  It was such a beautiful night and we had such a great time.

Day at the zoo!

Our next excursion in San Diego was to visit the zoo.  Peter and Benjamin had never been to this one so we knew we'd have a great time.  We put the kids down for an early nap and when they woke up we were off.

Benjamin was beyond excited to see all the animals and so were his cousins.  It is so fun to go to a zoo with kids, watching their excitement just makes me smile.

We saw lots of cool animals, ate a delicious picnic dinner (thanks Anita!), watched a parade, rode the skyfari and had a blast!  Here's a few pictures...

 cheeseballs
 cutie pie Mandy
 sweetheart Jonah
Benjamin still talks about the elephant throwing dirt on himself
 pretty Katie
they loved that the polar bear was eating carrots!
 our little family
 my adorable boys!
Anita, just how did we get so lucky?  Ha!
Ben requested bears and Uncle Nate delivered!
Jonah chilled the whole time with his feet propped up, he is sooo easy!
 sweet sister & brother
 YUM!
 skyfari!
sweet Jack loved on Jonah all week long

By the time the night was over we all felt like doing this...

but it was SUCH a fun day!

Pt. Loma & Coronado

Sorry famly for being MIA on the blog for a week....we were enjoying the sunny weather and wonderful company of the Larmores in San Diego!  We had a full week of fun with Nate, Anita, Katie, Jack and Mandy.

We're back home trying to get in the swing of things after the relaxation and excitement of our vacation, but looking at the pictures makes me want to just re-pack and go back!  And since I took no less than 6,530 (or so, ha!) pictures, I'm going to break up our trip into different posts.

Our travel to San Diego went super smooth, the boys were great on the plane and we were at Anita's house by late afternoon.  Anita's home is amazingly decorated and so comfortable.  We spent the afternoon just catching up and enjoying meeting some of their friends at their Bible study that night.

The next day everyone went swimming at their neighborhood pool, we had an amazing lunch of skirt steak, burgers, hot dogs, brats, etc.  Yum!  We decided to forgo the fireworks since it was overcast that evening and it wouldn't be worth keeping the kids out super late.  Which is good since the San Diego fireworks all went off at once due to a computer glitch and lasted only 15 seconds....hilarious!

Thursday we decided to spend the day exploring the scenic Pt. Loma area and then we headed to one of their favorite beaches in Coronado, with a stop at Chick-Fil-A for lunch of course!  It was a beautiful day, not too hot and nothing but blue sky.  We enjoyed all the military helicopters, submarines, airplanes, etc that flew over the ocean all afternoon.  Benjamin was loving it since he's obsessed with all things airplane, helicopter, tractor, vehicle, etc!  Peter took Benjamin and Katie out to ride the waves.  Ben didn't last long, surprise surprise, but Katie and Peter were out there forever.  I'm really not sure who had more fun between the two, it's one of Peter's favorite things to do.

Here's a few pictures!

Those eyes

Those eyes.  Oh those eyes.  Those ridiculously beautiful blue eyes.

Those eyes that greet me each morning with a sparkle when he smiles.

Those eyes that make me melt.  Every single time.

Low Key Weekend

I think we tried to enjoy a low key weekend because we know that the rest of this summer is going to be crazy busy.

Friday we got some take-out from a local Sports bar & grill....good stuff.  Sometimes we find it so much easier to just get food and bring it home rather than wrestle with 2 boys at a restaurant.

Saturday we just hung out and played in the morning.  I went and did a bit of shopping while the boys napped for a few hours.  We did a few house project, went to Wal-Mart and watched the Olympic Trials.

Today we went to church, tried to nap but was mostly unsuccessful due to Jonah, and I started packing and organizing for our trip to San Diego on Tuesday.  Tonight I gave Ben and Peter a haircut trim and we're watching the Olympic Trials again.  I'm remembering now how addicting watching the Olympics is and how much I don't sleep when they are on.  It's worth it though!
he is a complete nut but I love him to pieces

we adore what Daddy calls his goofy grins

oh no!  Maybe he resembles his brother more than we thought :-)
love. these. boys
