Thanksgiving Day 2012

This year we had Anita, Nate and their kiddos in town for Thanksgiving.  As well as Mom and Dad K, and Knute.  So fun to share the holiday with family.

We were also blessed enough to share the day with our friends who feel like family, the Zderads.  They opened their home to all of us for the day, Kristen and I made and split up the menu, and we enjoyed lots of yummy food and fun company.

Our food contribution was:  mashed potatoes, stove top stuffing, green bean casserole, Ruth's chris recipe for sweet potato casserole (SOOO good), broccoli and cheese, rolls, and blueberry torte for dessert.  Let's just say that since that was about half of the food, we ate good and were stuffed.

I left the day feeling so full of delicious food and so full of gratefulness for my family and friends.  God is so good to us, may we never take for granted His faithfulness and bountiful gifts in our lives.

Thanksgiving visit from the Larmores

About a month before Thanksgiving my SIL Anita called and said they were thinking of coming up from San Diego for a Thanksgiving visit!!!!  How fun :-)

Plans were made, rooms in our house were rearranged a bit, they survived the 16 hour drive and arrived late on Sunday night.  We were super excited to see them.  It was late so after the kids went to bed, we ate spaghetti and caught up on life.

Peter had to work on Monday and Tuesday so we had to have fun without him....we let the kids play/destroy the house in the morning then we headed out for 99cent bowling.  The kids had a blast.....despite the cranky old ladies next to us who tried to put a damper on it all.  We bit our tongues, they settled down and a good time was had, ha!

We played at McDonalds, ate frozen yogurt, watched movies, gave the kids baths, played some more, and tried to relax some.  We swapped kid watching during naptimes so we could both enjoy coffee dates.

Wednesday night Peter's folks, Poppy & GongGong, and his brother were coming into town.  Only.....there was a bit of a surprise.  His parents didn't know the Larmores were here!!!!!  Hee hee!

When they were set to arrive, the Larmores hid in the garage and rang the doorbell after they had already come inside our house.  They were totally surprised and it was fun.  LOUD and fun, ha! :-)

That night the kids had an extra fun storytime, we ate too much food and watched most of the Obama 2016 documentary.

We successfully kept it all a secret and it was really fun to have the surprise.  The next day was Thanksgiving, but I'll post those details separately.  Friday we hung out in the morning, some of us did a little shopping at WalMart, and we packed up to head through the mountains on the way to Sunriver....

We had rented a condo at a resort there and settled in for a couple nights of coziness and fun.  We loved the wood burning fireplace in the living room, and the kids had a blast looking at Christmas lights, and swimming in all the pools.  I'm slowly learning that everything doesn't always go exactly like planned, but little details are just that, only little details, and overall, we had a great time.

After our fun in Sunriver, both Mom & Dad K and the Larmores had to head for home.  We were really sad to see everyone go.  Even though we hadn't had quality sleep in awhile since our sleeping arrangements involve the boys in our room....

We had a great visit and when we all woke up the next morning, we wished we were together again.  Until next time.....

9 Months!! - Jonah

Let's just pretend that I'm not just now writing Jonah's 9 month post.  Seeing as how he turned 10 months old over a week ago.  Hmmm.  I guess life is a little busy.

But we still loooove our little Jonah.  Here's what he's been up to.

Height:  28 3/4 inches

Weight:  17lbs 6 ounces

Likes:  You love your brother, bathtime, grabbing computer cords :-), being outside, playing the piano, reading books, being tickled.  You love climbing up the stairs and stealing Benjamin's Floppy.

Dislikes:  Having to lay down to have your diaper changed.  You scream like a crazy man, not so fun.  You also dislike having to wait more than 5 minutes for food when you are hungry.  Your cry can be so pitiful and adorable.  But you have also mastered the fake cry....probably due to imitating your brother :-)

Eating:  You are an EA-TER.  Oh goodness you can put away some food.  You eat pretty much everything except for peas, and other vegetables when you're being really picky.  You love bananas, pasta, gogurts, cheese, all fruits, cheeseburgers, chicken, muffins.  You also nurse 4 or 5 times a day though only for about 5 minutes each time.  We've almost made it a full year!

Sleeping:  You are still a pretty good sleeper.  You go to bed around 8pm each night, usually sleeping until between 5:30am-7am.  Then after you nurse, you go back to sleep until 8:30am or 9am.  You sometimes take a short morning nap and always take an afternoon nap of at least 2 hours.  You still sleep with your sound machine, paci and Floppy.

Personality:  You have really blossomed.  You have fully discovered your voice and we love it (most of the time!)  You are sooo chill, yet you are always on the move.  You are ornery and sneaky and secretly we kind of love it.  You will crawl over to the radio, push the buttons to turn it off, and then crawl away as fast as you can hoping not to get caught.  It's hilarious.  You have the most infectious giggle and smile.  Your eyes tell a story and you love undivided attention.

Highlights:  You learned how to climb up the stairs.  You imitate or try to repeat several words including "brub brub" (our word for brother), "giraffe", "hi-ya", "ball" or "rrrrrr" (lion roar).  We visited grandparents in Idaho again.  Your first Halloween was a blast.

Jonah, we just love this stage you are in.  We smile every day watching you grow and learn and we are so blessed to be your parents.  Your smile melts our hearts and most nights we hate bedtime because we just want to keep you awake and play with you.  Thanks for being so adorable, we love you.
