Christmas cookies
This year Benjamin helped me decorate the sugar cookies. I really tried my best to not be too OCD about the mess and just let him have it. Of course, I decorated a bunch too that are "safe" to eat because they haven't been decorated by fingers that were licked between sprinkles, chocolate chips and red hots!
I think he enjoyed himself and I know he enjoyed eating them. Jonah chilled out most of the time with a spatula (notice his foot on the table in the picture) Fun memories with my boys...

EPIC Christmas Party
I'll have to gather some more pictures from some of the other cameras at the party, but we had a blast at our EPIC Christmas Party. We invited boys to come along this time too (normally EPIC is only girls) and it was really fun.
After church we all ate at the Pizza Hut buffet. Thankfully we were able to use their party room and keep the 35 kids/adults all grouped together. Then we headed off on our photo scavenger hunt around town. The teens all dressed in ugly Christmas sweaters or silly Christmas accessories and headed off in different teams to check off all the items on their lists. They had a take photos of everything they did and it ranged from sitting on Santa's lap, to a male team member wearing a red dress, to applying a shaving cream beard, to making up your own Christmas song and recording it. I drove around one group and let's just say I remembered all too quickly how um....fun? that age group is? Ha! Really though, it was a blast.
We all then headed to Kristen's house for some snacks and a white elephant gift exchange. They also wrapped the presents our church sponsored for the Angel Tree ministry. Then most of us headed to a nearby church for their annual Christmas production. Its a narration, choir, soloist, live nativity production that's really cool. Of course my boys didn't make it through most of it so I played with them in the nursery. We ate a few cookies afterwards, took a few of the teens home, and finally made it home that night around 9:30. We had been gone for over 12 hours that day and we were wiped.
I think we had about 18 teenagers and 4 different couples and their kids for sponsors/helpers. It was so encouraging to see not only the young people bond with one another, but also see how many families are willing to invest in the youth. It was a long day, but so full of fun memories and blessings.

Quick date at the theater
One of the girls in our youth group is on the drama team at her high school and they were putting on an adaptation of A Christmas Carol set to "modern times." Kristen and I wanted to see it but young kiddos and quiet theaters don't mix, so we thought of a plan. We watched their younger boys on Friday night so her older two and Jeremy could go and then on Saturday night we swapped and they watched our boys.
The boys were really good on Friday night. We watched Kung Fu Panda holiday....
then cleaned up a little bit....
got in a few more dance moves before bedtime....
and called it a night.
Saturday night Peter and I went to Red Robin which was delicious. And we had enough time to grab a Starbucks before enjoying the play. It was fun to see Miranda acting, she did a great job. It was only a few hours away but still fun to enjoy some quality time with my man.

Walk in the sunshine
Whenever we get a beautiful day in December we take full advantage of it and head outside! A little Vitamin D does wonders for us all.
So after sweet little Jonah took a morning nap (which doesn't happen most days)...
and Benjamin and I finished a few puzzles....
we loaded up in the wagon to go explore the neighborhood, throw rocks in the canal, eat snacks, and watch the housing construction across the street. Then we played some more in the garage. My boys love being outside and so do I!
So after sweet little Jonah took a morning nap (which doesn't happen most days)...

we loaded up in the wagon to go explore the neighborhood, throw rocks in the canal, eat snacks, and watch the housing construction across the street. Then we played some more in the garage. My boys love being outside and so do I!
Rainy day at the zoo
My parents got us a zoo membership this year for Christmas which is awesome!! It accidentally emailed the confirmation to us before Christmas Day which worked out perfectly because I was already planning on heading to the zoo with Kristen and her kiddos. We were able to use the membership already, perfect!
It was rainy but that meant there was hardly anyone there. The boys were great and didn't seem to mind the rain at all as they happily ran from exhibit to exhibit. We spent a good 3 1/2 hours there and it wasn't until the end when the rain started to pick up that the boys realized they were cold and wet and wanted to "be warm in the van." We survived pushing the boys up the hill toward the exit (probably around 80-85lbs of weight!) and after changing socks/pants they happily either watched a movie or napped on the way home. I loved watching their enthusiasm with the animals and just enjoyed the sweet company of my friend. It was a really fun day.
