Weekend Wrap Up

It's been a fun but tiring weekend.  Friday night we took Benjamin swimming at our community pool.  They have a good sized warm water pool so he was able to stay in longer than he can in colder water.  He loved it!  It took him awhile to get used to all the extra noise because it was really busy, but once he did he just chilled and kicked his little legs.  He spent part of the time in his inflatable boat and part of the time bobbing around with mom and dad.  Our friends, the Zderads, went with us too and we all had a blast!  We swam until 8:30 so Benjamin turned into a cranky boy once we took him out of the water and had to get him in warm clothes...but he fell asleep in the car within 30 seconds on getting in his carseat!  Sorry I didn't take any pictures though...it was kind of crowded and I was busy enjoying the time with my little guy!
This morning we went strawberry picking!  The crop wasn't overly amazing this year because we've had so much rain and not enough sun, but it was still fun to meet our friends there and pick away.  It's crazy to think that Benjamin will actually get to enjoy some strawberries of his own later this year!  That was certainly my motivation when I was slicing 17lbs of strawberries this evening.
The rest of the day was spent thinking of home projects we want to tackle.  Hopefully some of those work out for us to try so I can post more on them later!
Here are a few pics of my little man who is just getting bigger and bigger.  I was putting his pj's on tonight and they are getting sooo snug, made me kind of sad.  He's just so cute.
All ready to go garage-saling with mama on Friday morning :-)
I love to climb on daddy
Seriously?  This kid is CRAZY!
Doesn't everyone pick strawberries in this getup?
(See Grandfather?  My hat is getting closer to really fitting me...it has to be sideways for now though because I don't like it when it covers my eyes!)
WORD!
He's never worn this outfit so we put it on, then died laughing at how awful he looked.  We ended up changing him because we couldn't stop laughing at how girly he looked.
Something about it reminded us of the caterpillar on Bug's Life.
We kept saying the line from the movie, "Look at me, I'm a beautiful butterfly".
Benjamin thought we were hilarious, and we were just dying.
Learning to sit up while listening to my tunes
I really love taking my naps outside in my new swing!
Ladies, ladies...rest assured.  What you see hanging over my jeans is ALL muscle.
You just wish you had my confidence.  Ha!
SO STINKIN' PINCHABLE!
Just loving my bathtime before bed!  I have totally mastered the art of lounging in my tub :-)

My Day with Mommy

Hi guys, Benjamin here.  Just wanted to share with you some of the ways I helped mommy today.  Sometimes she just can't keep it all together so she needs my assistance....really, what would she do without me?

This morning we cooked and baked!  I learned what a crock pot was....pretty much sounds like lazy cooking to me but what do I know, I'm 4 1/2 months old?  I'm not sure what it tastes like but the apricot chicken we made sure smelled good.
Then we moved on to the territory I am sure to love, if I'm anything like my parents that is.  DESSERT!  I helped mommy squeeze the life out of some lemons and stir some brown sugar and oats and other white powdery things (mommy says the legal kind of white powdery things) together to make some yummy creamy lemon crumb bars.  I gave her a dirty look though when she said they were for our friends at our small group.....WHAT?!?!?!  I think I shall remember this betrayal and have a diaper blowout tomorrow!

I was exhausted from how much help I was giving my mommy so I slept for 1 1/2 hours.  It is really hard work being this cute 24 hours a day AND having to keep up with the household responsibilities.

There's no rest for the weary though and so I was on to laundry.  I kind of wanted to take a dip in the washing machine....it looked sort of fun to have all that warm water splash all over me and take a little spin.  The dryer though....not so much.  All that heat would mess up my hair!  Mommy didn't let me eat the soap, we had to pour it over the clothes instead, bummer.

I had to remind mommy that I was a baby not a workhorse.  So she finally relented and let me play.  Well, she let me read books to make me think I was playing but really I was practicing sitting up and stimulating my brain or something like that!  It was a pretty good time.

Then Mommy read me one of my favorites, do you know which book it is?

You guessed it!  The little mouse, the red ripe strawberry and the BIG HUNGRY BEAR!  Mommy always says the BIG HUNGRY BEAR is such a funny, loud, crazy voice...it makes me smile.

After dinner I socialized with my peeps....
Okay, so I don't really have peeps....or at least I don't think I do.  I'm not really sure what "peeps" are.  I was talking to my Aunt Amanda on the phone....I must have been trying to give her kisses in that picture.  It certainly wouldn't be me trying to eat an electronic device, that would be embarrassing.

I really have to keep up my cool dude image so people don't realize I'm really a goofy dork.
That was my day.  I'm pooped.  I mean I did poop, earlier.  But you know what I meant.
I'm all clean now, promise.  Goodnight.

Half and Half

Today was half and half.  Half the time Benjamin was happy and delightful and half the time he was cranky and needy.  This morning he woke up and didn't want to be anywhere but my arms.  So mama didn't do anything all morning but hold him while we played and then while he slept for 1 1/2 hours.  I didn't get anything done but I was just reminded how grateful I am to be able to be at home with him....especially on days when it seems like he just needs extra mommy time.  So I tried to just cherish the sweet cuddle time with him.

After lunch he was in a much better mood and played on his playmat for a little while.

Benjamin took a nice long bath then slept for about 45 minutes in his crib.  We played some more....

practiced sitting up, though he was mostly interested in lounging and chewing on his bib....
and later on he took another little nap in his swing, I had to snap his picture because he looked so sweet.

We ate dinner and enjoyed a family walk on another beautiful night!  Benjamin was styling in his pj's :-)
I am quite the drool monster
Mama, I'm faaaalllliiiinnnggg!
I'm always practicing my "crazy man" dance!
Daddy's having me practice my standing too....doesn't he know I'm still little??
I just KNOW you want to kiss me!!!
