Celebrating 6 years in Bend!

This Friday is Peter and my 6th Anniversary....which is crazy.  Life sure flies by.  To celebrate, Peter contacted an old co-worker about a condo their family owns in Bend and because of a few factors we ended up being able to stay at the condo for 2 nights completely for FREE!  How cool that God provided that for us?  We had been talking about taking a mini vacation where we'd have no agenda and this was going to be perfect!

We headed out late Tuesday afternoon as soon as Peter finished work.  We were excited because the weather was supposed to be sunny, warm and beautiful.  Benjamin took a great nap on the way over and we arrived to our fun home away from home.

We stopped at Safeway before we got to the condo to buy a few food items, then got settled in and decided to take Benjamin swimming!

Okay Mama, can we go???

He was a bit excited to be in Bend and to be going swimming

COME ON GUYS, let's get in the water!

Just keep swimming, just keep swimming!
Hooray for nice ladies who volunteer to take family pictures!
 Benjamin looooves his little boat
 Yipppeeee!!!!
Hard to take a picture when Benjamin keeps splashing water in your face huh Peter?
jumping into the pool with Daddy is sooo fun!

The weather was still warm and pleasant even at 7pm and there were only maybe 3 other people there which was awesome!

little blue eyes all warm and cozy in his pj's after his swim
you're right Mom, this vacation thing is awesome
after little guy went to bed, we cooked our yummy pizza and breadsticks!
which we later washed down with ice cream and Fudge Dipped Oreos...YUM!
We spent the night relaxing, enjoying each other's company and watching a bit of HGTV (my love language, ha!)

Benjamin slept until almost 9 (waking up about 5:30 to eat) so we even got to sleep in a little.

reading his version of the morning newspaper
Yummy Yummy breakfast!

after breakfast we headed to the resort playground for some fun
definitely the best way to ride!

 who you calling crazy Daddy??

Benjamin napped well, ate lunch and then we headed off to Lava Lands.  It's an area with a great view of Bend and the surrounding area which has seen a lot of volcanic activity.  It was a beautifully clear day and a fun outing.  The pictures don't do it justice...I need to put the sun filter on my camera!
When we first got there though, Benjamin had been eating a graham cracker so there were crumbs that fell from him when we picked him up.  This little guy thought they'd be a great snack...

he ate all the crumbs and actually jumped into our car looking for more.

apparently the little chipmunk could smell the graham crumbs on Benjamin, ha ha ha!

Here's a few shots from our walk around the area and up by the fire look-out post....

We took our time enjoying the view then decided to take a drive on the Cascade Lakes Scenic Highway while Benjamin napped in his carseat.  There were hardly any cars on the road, it was beautiful and sunny and the scenery was amazing.  We stopped at lots of little look-outs and beautiful lakes.  It was such a pleasant afternoon enjoying God's beauty.

We then headed to Greg's Grill, a restaurant right on the Deschutes, for dinner.  We enjoyed our prime rib and salmon (Benjamin had a bit of mac & cheese).

 my two loves!
Benjamin was soooo good (I was a bit nervous since it was a little "fancier" of a restaurant)  He charmed everyone and flirted like nobody's business with our pretty blond waitress :-)
love this guy...happy 6th anniversary Peter

We made a quick Starbucks stop and headed home to get our munchkin to bed (after a few giggles with Daddy), and enjoy some more ice cream and relaxation.  Perfect day!

We had a nice, lazy morning together on Friday then decided to head out for one more swim after Benjamin napped.  We were able to get a late check-out so we had plenty of time to shower and pack up afterward.  It was another beautiful day like it had been yesterday (around 75-80 degrees and sunny!!!)

 such a happy little chunk!
Benjamin and his weirdo "lower lip chewing" face
Hi everyone!  Wish you were here with us
ha, the scowl on his face kills me
I wish I knew whether Benjamin loved his Daddy!?!?!
The resort has 2 outdoor heated pools, and 2 outdoor hot tubs

hard to get a good shot on such a sunny (Yea!) day
Shamu's got nothing on my little guy's jumping skills :-)
oh, we sure do know how to relax don't we?

We cleaned up, packed up, and grabbed a quick lunch before driving to take a hike recommended to us at Todd Lake.  Another gorgeous afternoon to be enjoying Bend's beauty.  Again, the pictures don't do it justice but it was sooo relaxing and beautiful.

father and son - soooo handsome

it's backwards in this picture, but see how much better his hat fits now Grandfather???

It was a beautiful hike and a great time as a family.  We finally had to head home kicking and screaming but first made a stop for a couple of malts in Sisters, OR :-)  Yes, we are slight ice cream addicts but are seeking NO help for the problem whatsoever :-)

Thanks for putting this trip together Peter.  What a wonderful way to celebrate our 6 years together.  Life with you gets better and better each year, I love you!
