Naps? That was so yesterday, Mama!

Yes, you read the blog title correctly.  Benjamin apparently thinks naps are a thing of the past.  Or at least naps where he doesn't take 45 minutes to crawl around his crib like a madman, sitting up in the middle of his crib to see everything, or pulling up on the side of the crib for his best view yet.  He squeals, kicks, grunts, and moves.  Then, maybe, just maybe, he will sleep 40 minutes if I'm lucky.  When he's done he cries like he's been abandoned until I come get him.  Or better still, he's decided to not squeal and play for 45 minutes before sleeping, but will instead, scream bloody murder for 40 minutes until I hold him, where he'll scream another 10 minutes before crashing in my arms.  I'll put him back in his crib and I'll maybe get 30 minutes out of him before he's screaming again.  Oh joy.  Oh bliss.

Okay, really, I know it's just a stage but it sure wears you out.  He was up every 2 hours last night just crying and awake.  He's a BUSY, BUSY, BUSY baby during the day, exploring EVERYTHING.  I googled "9 month old suddenly won't sleep" because that's what I do when I'm at a loss :-) and apparently it's just a typical 9 month old sleep regression that is incredibly common.  Their minds are supposedly developing so much during this time that its hard for them to settle enough to sleep.  It makes sense because even though he's incredibly tired he pants like a nutcase and grabs anything near him, seeking what he can pull up on or shake like a rattle.  He really has gone through a lot of development lately, physically, mentally and emotionally so I know he has a bit of excuse, but let's hope he sleeps more tonight!!!!

Here's a few pictures of him pulling himself in the bathtub tonight.  They're not the greatest quality because he moves so much but it gives you a sense of how busy he is :-)  Lucky for him, his mama still thinks he's the most adorable boy in the world.

Those beautiful eyes and sweet face make even a very tired mama smile :-)

Oh yeah, and Benjamin wanted to give a shout out to his Auntie Amanda........

HA!  Love you sis!
