Last weekend we experienced a 300% growth in the number of kids in our household. We went from 2 kids to 6 kids!!
At least we did for two nights (I'm certainly not expecting quads or any baby right now!)
We swap overnight babysitting with our wonderful friends as Christmas gifts and we were seriously delighted to gift them with a couple nights away to refresh, reconnect and relax.
And we love their kids so we truly enjoyed every minute. They were all so, so good and a wonderful time was had by all. I'm pretty sure they only missed their parents a little bit. And Benjamin was just beside himself that all his friends got to sleep at his house! The only logistical struggle was trying to feed GoGurt yogurt tubes to 2 hungry babies at once, ha.
Thursday night we ate spaghetti then Peter kept the babies and Elijah at home while I took Ben, Micah and Haddie to worship team. Friday we got the older two off to school, spent the morning playing with the other 4 while Peter worked. I took the younger 4 to McDonalds to burn off some energy. That night we ate Little Caesars pizza then headed to the OSU Gymnastics meet. I brought goodie bags of snacks and candies which delighted the kiddos and the kids lasted the whole meet (about 2 hours) We got the little ones to bed and played UNO with the oldest two....since when do you have to wait for your kids to go to bed on Friday night so you can go to sleep? Craziness.
Saturday we played around the house, ate pancakes, and after lunch we took the kids bowling. It was so fun! We came home, listened to books on tape, played Jenga and then their parents came back. It was sad to see them head home that night, we had a great time. And we loved that our friends had a great time too. Kristen is a gift of a friend to me and I was so grateful to be able to give her some "me" time.
Who knew a 300% family growth could be so fun? Easy though grandparents, all in good time.....all in good time, ha :-)
We also tried to recreate the scene from the last time I took the oldest two bowling when their brother Micah was born. Cannot believe how much these two have grown up!!!!
