Our little family Christmas 2012

Since we always travel somewhere to be with one or both of our families for Christmas, we always carve out time beforehand to enjoy a little family Christmas of our own at home.  It only gets more and more fun as your kids get older and understand more of the real reason for Christmas in Jesus and get more and more excited about their gifts.  This year I made a chain link countdown til Christmas for Benjamin because he kept asking if it was Christmas Day.  He didn't understand why we had a Christmas tree up but it wasn't Christmas.  And when he woke up to a bit of snow one day he thought it was Christmas because it snows on Christmas morning on Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol, ha!

We decided against a dinner of appetizers since we enjoy those foods with family over the holidays but after we spent the day packing and last minute shopping/cleaning, we ordered a Pizza Hut box and ate dinner as a family in the living room listening to Christmas music.  The boys loved this fun treat!

After we ate, Peter told Benjamin the Christmas story using our nativity set while Jonah played Christmas carols for us on the piano...

Then it was time for stockings!!!!

Then much to Benjamin's delight, it was time for presents!!!

We opened a few gifts from extended family that we weren't going to see for Christmas and exchanged family gifts.
super excited about the trains from Aunt Stephie
 Daddy's starbucks hot chocolate treat
Jonah's Big Bird, so he'll stop taking brother's Cookie and Elmo!
he loves the helicopter Aunt Anita and Uncle Nate
his own copy of his favorite Kung Fu Panda!!!!
checking out Jonah's new transportation puzzle
a new Disney CD Storybook, he loves these!!
 we are so blessed
Benjamin is obsessed with his new look and find books

After we finished with presents we made some hot chocolate and headed out to a fun local lights display.  In true Benjamin fashion he took one sip and said "I'm done!"  Ha ha.  The lights display was a house with over 30,000 lights or something like that, and it was all set to music with a snowman narrator and you could watch from your car while tuning it to the right radio station.  Jonah took a little nap, Benjamin climbed in the front seat with Daddy and we enjoyed it all.

It was a fabulous family Christmas.  We went to bed with smiles on our faces and grateful hearts for our sweet boys.

  1. Love the family Christmas time, it's so needed during the hustle and bustle! Where is that house with all the lights??
