Fire Station Open House

This Saturday we planned to do something we just knew our little boy would LOVE.

The local fire station was having their annual open house complete with fire engine rides, helicopter landing, fire hats, holding the fire hose, donuts, cookies, and free hot dogs.  A little boys dream right??

We were right.  He LOVED it.  Though he didn't smile for hardly any of the pictures the stinker.  He'd be smiling and smiling, see the camera and then stop.  Oh well!

I convinced Peter to go about 10-15 minutes early so we could get in the line quickly to ride the fire truck.  And, yep, I'm kinda a genius.  We got on the very first truck and Benjamin got to sit in the front.  He was ELATED and soaked up every second.  He sat with Daddy, and Jonah and Mommy sat in the back.
all ready to go in our new "craigslist" stroller

looking cute in his fireman hat
he just took it all in when he was riding the firetruck
sweet boy loved all the action....he looked pretty cute in his fireman pj's
the truck on Ben's first ride
he would have stared at the fireman and firetrucks all day long!

We walked around some of the exhibits, he enjoyed a donut and cookie, and he just explored all the fire engines, and ambulances they had out for the kids to enjoy.  He also got to practice "putting out a fire" with the fire hose.  He was just so stinkin happy walking around exploring some of his favorite things.
ooooh Benjamin, you are just too cute

 Stop signs are Benjamin's favorite!

with his loot!

We ate lunch, then since we had about 45 minutes to kill, we went to Starbucks (hey, Mommy and Daddy need to have a good Saturday too, ha!) and I fed Jonah during this break.  Then we headed back for the helicopter landing.  I actually went and got back in line with Jonah, so I could hold a spot for Benjamin to ride the fire trucks again.  The things we do to make our kiddos happy!

Meanwhile, the helicopter kept flying over, it was pretty cool.  Then it landed right there at the fire station and Daddy and Benjamin were right in front.  He seriously LOVED it.  Then he got to sit inside of it, and meet the pilot.  He wanted to fly in it.  The boy just looooves helicopters.  It's all he's talked about today, and would definitely say it was his favorite part of the day.

he loved the helicopter.  In fact, as we were leaving, he snuck back again, tried to open the door on his own so he could have a closer look.....the nice pilot let him get in again.  He is seriously obsessed :-)
this is him after sneaking in the helicopter the second time (he bypassed the line of people waiting on the other side and simply went for the other door, ha!)
Ben & the pilot

He got to ride the fire truck one more time, then we called it a day.

 a smile caught on camera....finally!
you can see them riding together in the back!

Our boys were really good the whole time and we know Benjamin had a blast.  It is just really enjoyable getting to do activities that we know they love, what a fun Saturday.
